OTAKOU.
September 3.— The weather here at present is delightful. Ihe pleasant spring hag come again, and Nature is fast putting on •• her robe of gresn." I'm sure the farmers must have been pleased with the recent rains.
Daily Communication.— The Kaik, from its rather isolated position, is generally very dull, and it is to be hoped that the negotiations'^ getting a cjaoh to run daily between here and Ounedin will come to a successful issue .
School Matters. -Our school was examined on the Utinst by Mr Goyen, who was assisted during part of the- day Mr Blcbardson. Severslof the school committee were present at the examination, at the request of the teacher. I understand that it is rather an innovation here for members of the school committee to be present on examination day. I think it shows tbat they take an interest in the welfare of (he Bohool, when they are willing to be present throughout the dreary routine of an examination The result of the exam., as far as is known at present, was satisfactory to both parents and teaober. We shall soon be looking for Chrhtmas, pionics, and the warm summer days. It is to be hoped that one and all will unite to make the annual school picnic as successful as it was last year.
