VETERINARY QUERIES.
[Answered by ft duly qualified Veterinary Surgeon.— Queries mnat be rcoeived by Monday night to ensure reply in the succeeding issue.] Ixka. 1 - — The *vi»pfc<-ms you give cf the disease at 1 acting your flock of sheep are v<-ry meagre. Probably it is caused by pararli.eo in the llvet— the fasciola hepatic* or the dislomum lanceolatum, which is extremely fat 1 to shtep grazing on inundated or naturally damp undrained pastures no matter how well fed r.he> are. When once farms of this description are infected with these parasites fihef-p kept thereon will cfßae to be remunerative aud even cattle of ten perish from the earns. As a preventive remove ever? theep to a high, dry paature, and give a daily allowance of salt in their feed, lhoroughly drain all wet paddock •, using them for a time afterwards for agricultural purposes, until the eggs of theie worms are destroyed. J, D.— The best thing you cou'd have done was to have oilled in a quali ri ed expert immediately the accident happened. It would hive been humane and woul J have saved the uutoward consequences which follow as a result of neglect, reducing a valuable, well bred, active mare to the level »f an old worn out screw. Until the extent of the le»ion is ascertained it would be uawiie to prescribe surgical or medical treatment.
