THE FROZEN MEAT TRADE.

At the second annual meeting of the Wellington Meat Export Company the report and balance sheet previously telegraphed were adoptee-. The Chairman (Mr W. C. Buchanan, M.H.R.) said the prospect of maintaining a good price for frozen meat was good. After going carefully into the figures there was every reason to believe that the export of mutton from this island alone next year would be increased by about half a million carcases.

The directors of the Southland Frozen Meat Company have been empowered by the shareholders to erect freezing works at Mataura, to extend the works at the Bluff and put in more refrigerating power there, also to increase the capital of the company by £4000. It is estimated that a saving of £2000 per annum will result by. using water power for driving the refrigerators.
