NOTES BY MASTER M'GRATH.

There are, it will be seen, 27 nominations for the Waterloo Cup— a satisfactory number under the oiroumstanoes ; that is considering the fee and the nselessness of entering any but proved dogs. I think we may pretty well depend on Mr Sohultza being represented by Brilliant ; Mr Forward by his Sookburn winner East Lynne j Mr Wise by that smart Duppy Carbine, with Laburnum as a second Btring to bis bow; Mr Myers by his .recent purchase Stormy Night; Mr Wynne; by The Barraoker, winner of the Dunedin Supplementary ; Mr Price by bis May Oup winner Watermark ; Mr Harley by that fast dog Smoko; Messrs Mills by Jew Boy ; and Mr Soanlan by Mariner. For the rest of the nominations more or less uncertainty prevails, but it is probable, I should say, that Mr Cooper will rely on Tainui and Arawa, Messrs Hunter and Cameron on Flora and The Sportsman, Mr Alexander on Ivanhoe, Mr M'Oann on Ringlet and Sydenbam, Mr Mahoney on Zara, Mr Irving on Impostor, and Mr Gardiner on Sachem or Sterling Maid. I cannot even guess what dogs are likely to represent Messrs Taylor, Hill, Sewell, and M'Ewan. The stake is worth £266, and if the dogs named are brought to the slips, there should be some lively betting, though Carbine should take a power of beating. As to the Bracelet, I think that the following will prove something like a list of the representatives :— Mr A. Campbell, Fireworks ; Mr E. Brown, The Jilt) Miss Price, Seacombe; Miss Maodonald, Laurestina and another ; Miss Forward, Lady Lyntonj Miss Blaney, Irony and Kintore; Mrs Harley, Lord Aston; Mr H. T. Irving, probably Iona; Mr J. M'Oann, probably Hurricane; Mr H. Dunn, Revolver and Fasoination ; Mr W. Wynne, Johnny Hazelgreen; Mrs Meroer, Beadonwell and another; Mr W. Fox, Obstruction ; Mr J. Deaker, Riohmond ; Mr E, Broadway, Oroydon; Mr J. Stanhope, Spring; and Mr J. Harper, Melbourne Tom. I may be wrong in some, but at the time of writing, the above very nearly represented owners' intentions.

I vouoh for this yarn. It ocourred in Dunedin. A running greyhound waß one day lost in the Btreet, Search was made. The person in search saw a crowd standing round a shop door, and, looking in, there was the lost dog, standing in the scales ! He had gone in of his own accord, and would not budge for anybody. The dog had been weighed at the scales, on previous occasions. That fact, and not anxiety as to how he was training, was probably the cause of his peculiar aotion. Fernandez, one of Allen and Finlinson's dogs has been sold for 26gs to Mr E. Power in Melbourne. °

"Cumloden" says that Tarn O'Shanter, whose name was made famoua through the agency of Faugh-a-baUagh, Flageolet, Foils, Fontenoy and Friar's Balaam, has been recovered after being long lost, and the old dog is once more in his former owner's possession at Goulburn. Coursing men are reminded that the meeting of the' National Coursing Club of New Zealand will be held at PhUp's Hotel on the evening of Friday, the 10th July next. I hope that the importance of the anbjeots to be diaoussed will ensure a good attendance. At a meeting of the Oamaru Coursing Olub last week Mr George Prooter tendered his resignation of the olub's secretaryship, which wag aooepted with an expression of regret, and a vote of thanks was acoorded to the retirer for the services he had rendered to the club. It was decided that all arrears of subscriptions be called in immediately, and that lunch be not provided on the ground in future. Mr Wise was elected secretary.
