STOCK CONFERENCE.
(Peb Pbess Association.)
Sydney, June 24.
The Intercolonial Stock Conference recom- ' mends the establishment of a Stock Institute under the directorship of Mr Loir. The annual cost is estimated not to . exceed LI, OOO to which the different colonies will be asked to contribute in proportion to their stock ; New Zealand would thus pay £132 per annum. Regarding -the establishment of uniform regulations, the conference expect from the terms or telegrams received from the Minister of ' Lands that New Zealand will agree to adopt them so far as practicable under the oircumstances of that colony.
Wellington, June 25.
New Zealand was not represented ' at the Stock Conference in Sydney this year, as the Minister for Lands, in view of the Bitting, of Parliament and the reorganisation of the depart* merit, could not send delegates. With reference to the proposal for uniform regulations mentioned in to-day's cablegram, it is intended, if possible, to form a code oat of the regulations now existing in the various colonies ; bat it is not likely that New Zealand will be able to accept it in its entirety. ' The Me Loir spoken of as the director of the Stock Institute is the nephew of M. Pasteur, who came out to Aus« tralia to conduct rabbit, extermination expert* meats on behalf of his uncle. -
