The following announcement, printed in the Rooky Mountain Cyclone, shows how completely the English language is adapted for sudden and unforeseen emergencies : —

" We begin the publication of the Roccaye Mountain Cyclone with some phew dipbiculties. The type phounder phrom whom we bought out outphit phailed to supply us with any ephs and cays, and it will be phour or phive weeks bephore we can get any. The mistake was not phound ont till a day or two ago. We have ordered the missing letters,

and will have to get on without them til they arrive. " We don't like the loox of this variety oph spelling any better than our nabers, bnt mistakes will happen in the best-regulated phamilies, and iph thep's, h's.x's and q's hold out we shall ceep (sound the c hard) the Cyclone whirling aphter a phashion till the sorts arrive. It is no joque to us ; it is a serious aphair."

The second number of the R.M.C. contained the following : —

"In issuing the second number oph the Roccaye Mountain Cyclone, we regret to have to announce the deth oph our worthy editor, and the whole dnty oph running this valuable paper has ph alien on me and the opbise boy. It was a very sudden aphair, and caused a grate dele oph excitement in the locality. Me and the ophise boy will dv our level best to pleze you, and iph we maque any mistakes we hope you will kindly loox over them. The deth oph our editor happened this way. He gave out in our phirst edition that • Chieph Youngman aphraid oph his horses had taquen away a wiph belonging to Chieph Nole in the corner, oph his lepht stocing,' which was not quite true. Buth chiephs walqued into the opbise this morning and despatched him. The ophise boy was quite unwilling to go on at phirst, and proposed to traid the whole concern phur a barrel organ and a green-tailed monquey and go West at once. Oph course I cudn't agree to this as I can see a great phuture in phroht oph us phur the Roccaye. The ophise boy's name is Spurt, and is son oph a phaqner taqueing him all over he is a pretty smart boy. Iph no more accidents bephall us we mene to ceep (c haid) the Roccaye Mountain Cyclone to the phront."
