From a very indifferent start Highborn was first to show, followed by Tridentine, who took command and led -past Oxenham's by a length from Danman, after whom came Helene, Highborn, Knight Templar, and Chatham. At tbe mile post Chatham went to the front and led along the back stretch, attended by Oardoness, Tridentine, Denman, Helene, and Highborn. Then came a cluster of horses. There was no material chancre until they reached the half-mile poßt, where Chatham was leading Oardoness by a neck, and then came Highborn and Denman. The last-named was first into the straight just dear from Tridentine, with Lancer next, and the latter ooming away won easily by seven lengths from Dick, who was three lengths in advance of Volney. As they got to the distance Mark Twain was fairly on terms with Deerswood with Star of Erin just behind them, the three were in front of Spokesman. The jockey on the last named pulled out and his horse shot forward and soon bad the others in difficulties. He held Sis place, and though Star of Erin and Deerswood tried hard to beat him, Spokesman won from Star of Eric by a neck only, though with a little in ban 3. Deerswood, in third place, was a length behind Star of Erin, Mark Twain was fourth, Oooramin fifth, Seacombe sixth, and Wild Rosa nqxt. Time, lmin 1 I7seo.

Whimbrel had a slight lead of .Stamboul as they turned along the river Bide, whore Knight of the Garter soon went Jo the front, and led from Whimbrel, Lottie, and Stamboul. Going along the back stretch Knight of the Garter was two lengths ahead of the field, Lottie 'and Whimbrel being next, while &Lynd hurst waa conspicuous in the rear. Knight of the Garter continued to lead them round the far turn, and ooming towards home Tourbillon, Lottie, .and Whimbrel were those in nearest" attendance. Lottie took the lead as they came into the straight, where it was soon apparent that the Knight was Ibeaten. G'naroo, who had been in a foremost position in the field, now came to the front on the outside, and accompanied by Tourbillon challenged Lottie. The pair drew past her, but Whimbrol was more difficult to shaka off. Howevsr, G'naroo drew out in the la3fc 100 yds, and won easily by two lengths from Tourbillon, there being only half a length between Tourbillon and Whimbrel, who was third. Stambou', who finished well, was fourth, Pioneer fifth, Sinecure sixth, Knight of the Garter seventh, Bee zon eighth, Jaiper and Maggie being the last to finish. Time, 2min 37jseo.
