A NICE NUGGET.

Nsxson, April 1. A nugget weighing 320z 7dwt has been obtained at the Baton.

ROXBURGH AMALGAMATED MINING AND

SLUICING COMPANY (LIMITED).

The manager of the Roxburgh Amalgamated Company reports as follows, for the week ending 28th ultimo. :— •♦ I have the honour to report as follows — As the -water increated in the Teviot Creek, I was able to start slutoing in Wo. 2 on Wednesday the 25th. I have been tunning steady sinoe that time, putting through top dirt. I shall start on bottom dirt on Monday. If the supply of water keeps up I^hope to have a fair return at the end of the week. I have, also been pushing ahead with the removal of No. 1 elevator, whioh will be completed and ready for work on or about Wednesday. In sinking for the elevator I find the prospects very good. If we get a supply of water enough to keep both elevators going, I expeot to be able to give you larger returns thau you have bad yet."

The Fair Maid Gold Mining Company (Limited) report for the week lending March 25, that 28 hours' sluicing yielded 330z of amalgam. The manager of the Upper Waipori Alluvial Gold Dredging Company reports, under date the 28th March :— " The dredge is working well ; face' opened out over 300 ft; average depth about lift; I have crossed about 850 ft of solid ground now ; up to date the ground shows a slight improvement upon last week. We lost 9 hours' dredging on the 23rd mat. through the flooded state of tbe river and heavy wind, lhe amount of gold obtained during the week was 350z."
