A NEW INVENTION.
THE SEWING MACHINE RIVALLED. About the most unique and useful little machine introduced since the sewing machine is the Jewel Rag Taf ter — a handy, simple implement for working up odds and ends o£ ribbon, coloured dress stuffs, wool, or yarn into rugs, ottomans, tidies, or the other attractive and comfortable etceteras of a well appointed household. By its use scraps of cloth, old dresses, or the unconsidered trifles of the household, cut into strips, can be worked into a canvas foundation, to form really handsome mats by persons of either sex, either to while away the leisure time or as a source of profit. The machine is exceedingly simple, and can be worked without previous knowledge. It cannot possibly get out of order if the directions for operating are followed with ordinary care. No prettier or more useful present can be desired, whilst to persona wishing to supplement their incomes the opportunity exists for the sale of the machine or its handiwork. Anyone wishing to see samples can call on me and inspect the machine and a rug made within the last few days by a gentleman nearly 70 years of age. Several of these Tufters are now in use amongst the ladies of Dunedin, and the following .testimonials, selected from many, will show what its users say : —
