The Echo has been recommending New Zealand harbour trusts as good investments.
Mr Baldwin, son of Captain Baldwin, of the New Zealand Times, has been admitted to the Middle Temple with a scholarship ; aMrW. L. Buller, son of Sir Walter Bailer, has been called to the Btr at the Middle Temple.
The Duke of Manchester is to visit his posses* sions in Australia and New Zealand very shortly, and it said that during his absence his mother will be married to Lord Hartington. " Kirn " will not be attended by prize-fighters — nor by Miss Bessie Bellwood.
Another visitor to Australia and New Zealand is to be John Roberts, Jan., the champion billiard player.
In July, after the annual meetings at the Crystal Palace, General Booth will sail for South Africa, India, Australia, and New Zealand. He will be absent eight or nine months. His object is to expound to the world his gospel of " Darkest England." I see by the latest issue of the "Dramatic Peerage " that Miss Olga Brandon was born in Melbourne in 1864, but is of Russian parentage ; also that she was educated at a convent at Geelong and made her debnt in America. She is at present playing in the States with Mr Willard in Mr Jones' pieces, which do not seem, to be financially successful.
