LITTLE THINGS.

" I'm only a little thing," The violet said to tbe bee ; " Why do you sheath your busy wing To loiter to with me ? Fly on to other flowers, Flowers that are gay and tall ; Watte not the tunny hoar With one bo very small." "You may be a little thing," Said tbe bee to the violet blue ; " But no other flower in tpring Hath perfume sweet ns you. We passed the golden daffodil, The hyacinth bells io bright, And every brilliant flower until Your petals come in sight." '• Ah ! stay," eald the violet meek, " Your wings can soar so high ; And a thousand perfumes seek Beneath the widespread sky. Why come from heights above To a flower so very low, When che gorgeous bloisoms love To greet you as they go P " " 'Tia true," said the busy bee, " We soar on swift bright wings, Yet the sweetest sweets we see We find in little things ; And the flowers that look so gay, That grow to grand and tall, Oft bend their heads to hear vi aay • The violet's best of all.' " A wee little fairy near, Who gathered sunbeams bright, Said, as she paused to hear, " Dear bee, you're very right. I roam the whole world wide On my shining crystal wings, And I see on every side How sweet are little things. A little kindneis given,! A little love expressed, A little work for heaven, A little wrong redressed ; Each little act, if mild and true, Such brightening pleasure brings, And 6hows, jast like tbe violet blue, ' How sweet are little things. —A, M.
