QAMARU BOWLING TOURNAMENT.
The Oamaru Bowling Tournament whioh came off on the 27th proved a most sucoßssful affair, everything being carried out without a hitch. A fair number of visitors — the majority from the Cathedral Oity — were present. The southern bowling clubs were very poorly represented, the Roslyn club being the Btrongeßt, and well deserved their luck in securing the firßt prize. Tbe Dunedin and Caledonian won the second and third prizes. Kaituna bad a solitary representative. The weather could not have been improved upon for bowling, and tbe care that has been taken of the greens reflects great credit on the looal clubs. They proved to be both true and well grassed. The visitors could not be otherwise than well pleased witb them, and the opinion waß freely expressed that the graens are the best in Ofcago. Friday night bowling by tbe electric light was tried, and there waa some splendid play. Tbe matoh was Oamaru and North of Oamaru versus the South, and it resulted in a win by 8 points for the Northerners who played off on Saturday for the trophios. Martin's rink (Oamaru Club), after a very exoiting contoat played off on Monday afternoon, proved victorious, Christcburch not succeeding ia taking a single trophy. They are, however, very enthusiastic bowlers, and tbe Southerners had better look out or they will win all the prizes when they pay Dunedin a visit next year. During the afternoon of Monday a number of bowlers paid a visit to Meek's Boiler Flour Mills and grain elevators, and were both
surprised and pleased to see such splendid machinery, the miles of belting in two creating no little wonder. Mr T. Meek kindly explained everything in oonneotion with the mill. FIHBT TIKS.
