SALE OP PASTORAL LEASES.
The leases of nine runs, mostly small and inferior, were iold by auction at tho Invercargill Land Office on Wednesday (aaya the Southland Times), two of the most valuable under pretty brisk competition. The term in each case was 10 years from the let March 1892. The first put up was that marked 135 and 135 a, TaringHtura. 4520 acres, at an upset of £16. The prrtaent lessee, Mr Tennent. and Mr W. 11. Hailoa ran this up by £1 bids to £73. at which price it waa knocked down to the latter gentleman. Uuti 1900, West Dome. 4878 sores, went to the present occupier, Mr Patterson, at the up«*t — £50 16s 4d. Mr Joieph hngers also secured his run, No. 214 a, Nokomai. 70007 0 00 acres, at the upaet-£-<O. For 257, Moker*ta, 3160 acres, there was no bid. Hun 323 a, Kingtton, 30.930 acres, started at the upset of £125, and by rapid bids of £1 each ran up to £32i, at which figure the hammer fell to the bid of the present tenant, Mr Trotter, who had to compete with several rivals for Itc possession. Hun 475. Duiky Sound, 10 001) aoret, a new run was booked to Mr Huch M'Lenn at the up?et-£5. Run 443. west of Waiau, 47,000 acres, was secured at the upiet of £5 by Mr George Bee.; and inn 421, Longwood Kant;". 25L0 acres, fell to Mr M. J Munro at the uptet £5.
