TUAPEKA WEST.

March 14. — Quite a gloom has been cast over the district by the sudden death of Mrs James Hayes, who died last fcunday mornirg from inflammation. Deceased had been ill only a few days. She was highly respeoted and well liked by all who knew her. Very great sympathy is felt for the bereaved husband, wbo is left with five young children to mourn their loss. Kind friends have taken four of the children for a time, but this makes the home more desolate. Friends are also showing their sympathy by helping Mr Hayes to cut bis crop. The funeral, which took place on Monday,' was very largely attended. The Bey. Father O'Leary officiated at the grave. The Crops.— Harvest is in full swing just now. The weather has been splendid during the past week,. and all the farmers are working from early morn till late at night.
