ROAD BOARD MEETINGS.
The regular monthly meeting of the Peninsula Boad Board, held at the board's office, Higholiff, on Saturday, was attended by Meisrs Stuart (ohairman), Somerville, Helkie, Beattie, Murray, and Robertson. The Portobello Boad Board intimated that It had passed a grant In aid of the Hooper's Inlet road of £20. Messrs Stuart and Murray were deputed to inspect Morris' road and the main Sandymount road, to have specifications of the work required prepared, and to call for tenders for the work. A letter was received from Meisrs Duncan and Macgregor with reference to gates on No. 3 road, but no action was taken by the board. The members of each subdivision were appointed to personally inspect the roads In each subdivision, and to report at next meeting the quantity of metal required and the places at whioh it is needed.
The monthly meeting of the Portobello Boad Board, held on the 28th ult., was attended by Messrs Macandrew (chairman), Anderson, Cross, Sickson, M'Taggart, Hinckl&y, Lewis, and Seaton. It was decided to offer £3 10a per annum as rent for the Masonic Hall to bs used as the board's offices, an offer whioh was afterwards accepted. Permission wai granted to Mr W. O. Duthie to remove dead and useless timber from the beach, and to Mr Docherty, to erect (wing gates on the beach track to Lamblash. The clerk reported that he had made application to the Property Tax department for 75 per cent, subsidy on current rate*. A letter was received from the clerk of the Portobello School Committee declining to give the use of some ground for a public pound. The Icsiee of the Waverley toll was authorised to consult the board's solicitor re the case of a resident of North-Bast Harbour who declined to pay the toll charges, and, if necessary, take proceedings to recover. Accounts amounting to £68 Is 3d were passed for payment. The tender of O. Bandell, at 14s ll|d par chain, was accepted for formation through M'Farlane's property, North-East Harbour. Two tenders were reoeived for reducing the grade on the Beach road, Dunoon, but it was decided not to open them, but to request the members for Broad Bay subdivision with tbe impeotor to report fully on the proposed work to the next meeting
