WAIWERA.
Fkbruaby 24. — The grass threshing is now pretty well through although the weather has been rather broken, causing some delay. After all, the results, will be fair, ;both as to quality and yield. Some very good samples have been sold, realising satisfactory prices. Harvesting is now pretty geaeral. I notice that the crops are ripening pretty Irregularly. This of course causes muoh waste, through running here and there through the paddock cutting out patches. Several new binders have this year been brought to the district. The turnip crops continue to do well. There is likely to be an abundance of feed for a very long time. Large numbers of sheep will be wintered and fattened here. Impbovbments.— New buildings are continually being erected. Mr Edwards, of Mount Pleasant, is having a very commodious dwelling house built. Mr M. Hitchon, too, is building a very nice house. RoADMAKiNCh— As the rates are utilised for more pressing though not so important purposes, our farmers are turning out with their teams repairing the publio roads on the cheap. ■ Thb wbathkb is now everything that can bs deshed for harvesting.
