TO COBRESFONDENTS. X. Y. Z., Invercargill.— Thefollowing is a description of the courses run over at Bpsom, obtained from one of tbe best authorities. The Bed course is seldom or never U3ed now. It was two mileß of an irregular circular shape, the first mile up hill. The old Derby course was a mile and a-balf exactly and somewhat of the horseshoe shape. The first threeauarteraof a miloor slightly under was straight; then came a bend and a gradual turn of a quarter of a mile, the last half mile being straight. The first half mile is in the ascent ; the next 500 yds or more level ; and the remainder in the descent, like tbe Bllerslie course, till within tbe last 250 yds, when the ground rises again. The Derby course used since 1858 includes part of the old course; and the first half mile is on the ascent. The Derby is run left-handed, but the Metropolitan course two miles and a-half, is run the reverse way of the Derby course as far as the road from the winning post or chair, when it turns to the right and round the hill, coming into the Derby course again about a mile from home. Tha Craven course is a mile and a-quarter ; and there is also the straight half mile. There are other courses at Epsom such as the new T. Y. 0., six furlongs, the last four of which is the straight half mile. Sport, Bivewdale.— Bule 63 provides for the correction of an incorrect description of the kind to which you refer, provided it be proved that the error in the entry was accidental, and provided also that the application be made and a fine of Sib paid not later than two clear days before tbe race. As to the time of entering a protest of that sort, if fraud is not alleged, it must ba' made before the conclusion of the meeting. There is no special provision requiring the stewards to notify the correction in the weight. STtn>KNT, Wanganui.— Baroness Burdett and Nelly King were weighted at 6.9 in the Duoedin Oup won by Lurline. j, q.,_ in. the absence of enabling conditions, the answer to your question must be that the competitor should not have been allowed to take part in the Consolation Bace. P. J., Milton.— The Lawrence raoeoowrse is about 200 yds less than a mile in circuit. Mr i&tts could doubtless give you the exact measurement. J. H. A., Poverty Bay.— Mauy thanks $ very acoeptable. X. X., Dunedin,— You must pay;
