When they settled down, Marvel Bet out to make the pace a cracker ; while Highborn, Stockwell, Dilisk, and Odo headed a bunched field. It was about the same order across the tan— Stockwell, Highborn, and Marvel being most prominent, with E.K. last of all, and Blow at getting going. At the mile Odo ran to the front and led Stookweil a length ; then Marvel, Highborn, Vespasia, Pretty Kate, The Queen at the head of a duster. The order waa about the same along the back, Melos and Paris being hidden in the ruck, while Highborn occupied a good position on the inside. At the four furlongs Stockwell joined Odo, Marvel still third, but tiring faat. In the bend Stookweil left Odo, who was joined by Highborn, next being Pretty Kate, Vespasia, Muriel, Mantilla, Melos. Once in the straight the race was won, Stockwell, full of running, winning by five lengths from Vespasia, Pretty Kate close up ; Melos, with a late but fast tun, a good fourth. Time, 2min 368e0.
