Mr Skbnk reports under date January 13:— Coats off and hard work is now the rule. We have had our fill of holidays, and must face the new year in earnest. Fortunately country work is plentiful, and times are not so bad as the " crokcra " predicted. I have a better demand than usual for really good people (single and married) for farms, stations, dairies, &c, and with the certainty of a really good crop In the south, the prospect ]s cheering. As for the town, things would be right enough if we could inducß^more of our youngsters to take to country work. Wages keep well up for trained country
