(A J Taylor) 0 Betting at starting : sto 2 agst Heaume, 4 to 1 Sainfoin, 7 to 1 Queen's Birthday, 8 to 1 Surefoot, 10 to IBlue Green and Memoir, 100 to 6 St. Sarf, 25 to 1 Martagon and Right Away, 33 to 1 Alloway, 40 to 1 Oddfellow, 100 to 1 Star, 200 to 1 Gonaalvo, Hutton Oonyers, and Orwell. Surefoot displayed a Blight ebulition of temper, and there were three Blight breabe away before the flag waß lowered to a very satisfactory start. The first to break the line was Oddfellow, who ocoupied a position on the left, and he was olosely followed by Gonsalvo, Sainfoin, and Star ; then came Heaume in front of Orwell, with Blue Green, Right Away, and Queen's Birthday on the outside next, and Alloway bringing up the rear. When they bad run about a quarter of a mile Orwell, whose mission was to make running for his companion Blue Green, wae driven to the front, and newest on with a slight lead of Oddfellow and Heaume, with Sainfoin and Blue Green next, then succeeded Right Away and Queen's Birthday, with Surefoot and St. Serf the last two. Over the hill Orwell waa showing the way attended by Oddfellow, Heaume, and Gonsalvo, who wore followed by Sainfoin and Blue Green, with Right Away and Memoir next then came Martagon and Surefoot, with St. Serf last, behind Alloway. So they went into the dip, but on reappearing in sight Oddfellow rejoined Orwell, and the pair went on slightly in front of Queen's Birthday, who had drawn into third place, with Heaume lying next, at the bead of the others being Gonsalvo, Sainfoin, and Blue Green in a cluster, closely followed by Right Away, Memoir, and Surefoot, who were just clear of Martagon, Hutton Oonyers, and Star, with Alloway and St. Serf j bringing np the rear. Passing the rifle butts Oddfellow was showing the way with a slight lead of Orwell, Heaume going on third, Queen's Birthday fourth, and Sainfoin and Bine Green next, just in front of Gonsalvo and Memoir Shortly afterwards St. Serf struck into the heels of Surefoot and came on to his nose, and in slipping up he came on to Alloway, materially interfering with him. As they made the bend for home Sainfoin made his way to the front followed by Heaume, with Memoir, Blue Green, and Gonsalvo next. About a quarter of a mile from home Sainfoin and Heaume began to bold out signals of distress, and Memoir, on the outside, drew to toe front, followed by Blue Green, the pair singling themselves out, whilst Gonsalvo went on third. From this point the race was all over, barring accidents, as Memoir always had Blue Green safe, and won, amidst loud and continued cheering, by two lengths, A length separated Blue Green from bis stable companion. Then, two lengths off, Sainfoin was plaoed fourth by the judge, with Martagon fifth, Heaume sixth, six lengths in front of Hutton Oonyers, who was seventh, Oddfellow eighth, St. Serf ninth, Surefoot tenth, Star eleventh, Alloway twelfth, Queen's Birthday next, and Right Away, who broke down, last, behind his stable companion Orwell. Time, 3min 13 3-53ec.
