WAIWERA.
November 4. -The weather is still very rough, and little can be profitably done on the land. As the county election is now the one important topic, and seeing we now know the three candidates who are nominated, I would like to here make what I consider important points to keep in view while about to record our votes. All three, as far as I can find, are very respectable geDtlemen and good citizens. It now teems to me that we have to decide whioh with these good qualities is the most likely to be possessed with the greatest or most useful qualities in a public way— viz., public experience, law points and general judgment, and able to look the furthest outside of personal interests, not forgetting there is a seotion of ratepayers down as far as Kaihiku whose interests are equal to those of us who may be situated nearer the member's home. Seeing, too, the unsatisfactory financial position our council's affairs are in, it is doubly important thifc we should elect the best business men we can find, who are likely to be a little self-saorifioing, and not scrambling for what they'ean get for themselves and their friends, as we know such cases are often reported, whether true or not. Let me once more in conolueion urge on the ratepayers the importance and necessity of the right recording of their votes.
