A really admirable start. As they came over the brow of the hill the jaoket carried by Lady Betty was first discernible. Down the hill quite a dozen of the leading division appearing; to be abreast, but long before the road was 1 reaobed all fears that the light-weighted Außtralian-bred Lady Betty would win bad disappeared. Shortly after crossing the road Dazzle, The Imp, Shimmer, Soreeoh* Owl, Theophilug, and John Morgan were all in trouble, and Philomel, Queen of the Dale, Goisoard, Mori6n, Miss Dollar, and Lord George were alone left | with ■ winning ohances. Before the tele- ! graph board waß reached Queen of the Dale, Guiscara, and Lord George were done with. Fifty yards further on Motion 1 bad then fairly wrested the lead from Miss Dollar, and though .Philomel was running stoutly on,- she had not the ghost of a ohanoe with Lord 1 Hartington'a oolt, who drew farther away at every stride, and won by three lengths.
