(Fhom Ottb Own Cobhespondent.) Auckland, August 19.
Writing on the New Zealand Stud Company's affaln a few weeks baok I stated that the mortgagees (the Bank of New Zealand) had deolloed an offer of £11,000, but that the liquidator* would be prepared to entc rtaln.an offer of £18,000. A syndicate who had gone very' carefnlly Into the m&tter last week re-opened negotiations, and offered ' the £13,000, but whatever cropped up In the Interval, the offer was deolined. I understand that the matter is now entirely In the hands of the Assets Company, and the bank mutfeotlties have, I presume, considered It advisable to let matters stand until ! Major George's return to New Zealand, a month or two hence. There wonld appear to be danger of a oon- ■ flict between the two trotting clubs reoently formed in this district The Auckland Trotting Olub which I held Its' first meetiDg under the rules of the New Zealand Trotting Association, recently deoided that for various reasons it was ladvliable to form a separate club in this district, and it was therefore determined to retire from the Bouthern association. The Northern Pony and Trotting Club now comes on the iceneand notifies that it has been appointed the senior olub of the district and warns the Auok- '■ land Trotting Club that before holding any future ' meetings it will be necessary .for them to comply with the rules of the New Zealand Trotting Association, failing which all horses taking part at the gatherings will be permanently disqualified. The Auckland Trotting Olub Intend to fight the matter ' out, and In addition to these Spring meetings they ' have issued a programme for their Summer meetings, showing added money to the extent of £490 Raglan, who has been on the invalid list for several months, owing to an ailment which the ' ' vets" failed to locate, shows a good deal of improvement, and his trainer will put him into work at ah early date should he go on all right in the meantime. ' I Florence Maoarthy (dam of Tirailleur) has produced a filly to Ingomar, and Maid of Athol, dam of Soudan, a filly' to Nordenf eldt. The New Zealand Oup candidate Reprisal walked away lame after a gallop last week, and has since only been treated to light exercise. The little son of First King had been going on very satlsfacfactorily, and it will be a matter for , much regret should Major George lose his services in the contest for the New Zealand Cup Mr Morrin has decided on putting Hilda (full sister to Artillery), and Cissy (full sister to Trenton) to the English sire Castor this season.
