Lost, 11 to 19.— Mr Fish, remarking that the time had now arrived for decisive action, moved that the chairman leave the' chair. — At 10 minutes paßt 3, when Mr Fish had been speaking about an hour, the Hon. Mr Mitchelson moved that the SiTgeant-at-Arms clear strangers from the galleries. In doing so he said the action of Mr Fish in stonewalling the vote was nut creditable either to himself or his party. It would not be fair to keep Hansard reporters in the chambur under the circumstances. The motion was carried on the voices, and the galleries were then cleared. After the galleries were cleared the discussion was continued. The proposed inorease of £25 to the Uuder-seoretary was struok off and the vote as amended passed.
