THE ROXBURGH TEAM'S TOUR UP COUNTRY.

Bx Spbotatob.

On August 7 the coaches containing 30 players and lovers of football left Roxburgh en rout* for Clyde, on reaching which place we were welcomed with three cheers. After having lunch and taking a little exercise, we took the field. After some good play on both sides, Young, of Roxburgh, potted a goal, when the whistle sounded half time. A few minutes' spell, and the ball was again put in motioD, and after some give-and-take play Milne potted a goal, making Roxburgh 6 points, Clyde nil. For Roxburgh, Robinßon, Milne, Young, Jones (backs), and D. George (captain), M'Douald, and Fitzgerald (forwards) played well. At night a concert was held by the Roxburgh team, assisted by Messrs Wootton, Boyd, and George. The object of this was to defray coach expenses, and the affair proved a success. On the Bth we met Cromwell, but after dancing all night at Clyde it is not to be wondered at that Cromwell had a walk over by 8 points to nil. We were treated well by the Cromwell people. I must say, however, that the Oromwell team are what we term cocktails, as we have visited then* two seasons and they have not had the manliness to return the visit. On the 9th we met Bannockburn, and after an enjoyable game we won by 5 points to 3. For Bannookburn, T. Lawrence, Horn, Robineon, and C. Lawrence played well. All Roxburgh played well, but the backs are the beßt up country. The good collaring of Milne, Jones, and Young was a marked feature of the tour. It is almost impossible to get through their line. A grand spread was held at Mr Woodhouse's, and we all enjoyed the last night of our upcountry tour. I am glad to see Milne, George, and Young in the team selected to represent Country v. Town next Saturday.
