LAND AND WATER.
A number of gentlemen met in St Peter's Hall last night for the purpose of forming a bowling and lawn tennis club for the districts of Forbury, Cavereham, and St. Clair. Mr W. D. Milne, who was voted to the chair, explained that a suitable piece of ground was available. After some discussion the following gentlemen were appointed as a committee to make inquiry about the price of a suitable piece of ground, to get the names of those willing to become members, and to report to a futuref uture meeting, viz :— Messrs Kirby, Milne, Gill, Crumb, and the Rev. Mr Watson. Mr H. James was appointed secretary pro tern. It was agreed to fix the subscription for membership at a guinea for gentlemen and half a guinea for ladies. Two popular athletes leave Auckland shortly. Hugh B. Lusk has been admitted at the Supr9me Court as a barrister and solicitor, and will reside at Gisborne, and Herbert B. Eissling left last week for Melbourne. Both are prominent cricketers, and their departure will be a loss to the Gordon Club. Frank D. Clayton, a well-known cricketer and footballer, and honorary treasurer to the Auckland Rugby Union, is transferred from Newton to the Dunedin branch of the Bank of New Zealand.
