July 18.— The Tuapeka Rifles fired the third competition for Captain M'Keiuh's Cup on Thurs lay aW Satu>day last. The weather was very cold and foggy, and this accounts for the shooting not being up to the average. Twenty men again competed. The following are the seven highest scorers : - , 200 ?00 500
, Range'prizes were won by Corporal M'Olusky (21), Volunteer Phillips (15), and Lieutenant Urquhart (15). Colour-aergeant Brooks competed, his score being 49, but violated one of the conditions in not feoiug out with his squad. Babbit, Factory .—For some time past the establishment; of a rabbit factory here has been advooated, ftnd one of our local firms— Messrs Herbert and Co.,— With commendable liberality, offered a donation of £100 to assist such a movemeuc. The .Walfcahuna Farmers' Olub and the Tuapeka Wesb Farmers' Union conjointly have taken the matter up, and at their request the acting mayor, Mr M. Fraer, has consented to preside at a meeting to be held in the [Town Hall, Lawrence, next week, for the purpose of endeavouring to establish lucb an Institution.
