LONDON WOOL SALES. (Per Press Association.) London, July 2.

At the wool sales coarse crossbreds and inferior sorts range Id lower than at the last series of sales. July 3. At the wool sales prices for merino remain steady, but coarse crossbreds have a downward tendency. July 5. At the wool sales merinos were dearer, while crossbreds were slightly easier. The market generally is firm and spirited. At the wool auctions good merinos have slightly improved ; otherwise the market is unchanged, and the rates obtained at the opening sales rule. Merinos average from 7£ to 10, and crossbreds from 5 to 7£ per cent, below May. July 6. The total quantity of wool catalogued up to date is 123,000 bales, of which 111,400 have been sold. July 7. At the wool sales prices were steady. Merinos are firmer. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company have received the following cablegrams from their London office :— Dated Ist inst. : " Wool : The sales progress steadily. The following declines have taken place since the close of last sales— Superior greasy, §d per Ib ; superior washed merioo, Id ; medium to good washed merino, Id to l|d; scoured merino, l§d to 2d; superior greasy lambs' merino, £d ; fine greasy crossbred, £d ; fine washed crossbred, Id; fine scoured cross* bred, Id ; coarse greasy crossbred, £d ; coarse washed crossbred, Id ; coarse scoured crossbred, |d to Id ; greasy crossbred, £d to Id. The total quantity catalogued to date is 68,000 bales. The total quantity withdrawn to date is 7000 bales." Dated 4th inst.: "Wool: The Continental demand has increased. Scoured medium crossbred, market firmer; scoured coarse crossbred, market easier."

Messrs Dalgety and Company have received the following cablegrams from their London office :— Dated London, July 2 : " Theio is more animation, but prices are unchanged. Continental buyers are purchasing moderately." Dated London, July 7 : " Wool market firm ; prices hardening. Since our last telegram merinos show a rise of £d to §d, and coarse crossbreds a decline of |d to £d," Messrs Mnrray, Roberts, and Co. have received the following cablegram from their London house (Messrs Sanderson, Murray, and Co.) dated 4th insb. : — "Market has a better tone, scoured merino being firmer. Low to medium crossbreds declined 2f to 5 per cent."

The British and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company (Limited) have received the following cablegram from Messrs Helmuth Schwartze and Co. dated sfch inst. : — " There is an increase in the animation. Lately telegraphed decline partly recovered. Merino wools are on the average higher by 5 per cent, than commeacement of present series. Coarse crossbreds are easier. Catalogued up to date, about 120,000 bales, of which about 10 per cent, have been withdrawn and 45 per cent, taken for export."
