An extraordinary meeting of the shareholders of the G'enroc 1 * Company (Limited) was held in London on May Bth, to confirm the resolutions passed on Aurll 18th re the proposed amalgamation with the Premier Quartz Mining Company (Limited), of Maoetown, Otago. In moving to confirm the resolutions, the chairman laid the directors had not come with an ordinary reconstruction soheme, but they were imparting an entirely new element into the company. They were not going to exohange a oneeyed horse for a blind one, but were buying Into a new concern that would bring them in dividends. The motion was duly carried, and the proceedings then terminated. , , . Affaire are, we understand, bo far advanced that work has been recommenced In the mine, under ; the superintendence of Mr John Elliot. £1000 having been cabled out from home for the purpose.

for the purpose of viewing the manufacture of the fluming he has in hand for this oompany. The most interesting prooess was the working of a new lever riveting press capable of making any sized fluming with rivets up to Jin diameter, whiob turns out the work with wonderful rapidity, being capable of olenohing 500 rivets per hour. Tbe finish is excellent, being fully equal to that of a hydraulio riveter, without the pumps, accumulators, aud complicated pipes necessary to that system of working. The angle iron flanges were aleo rolled most expeditiously in one heat by special machinery. With the very complete plant Mr Joseph Sparrow possesses for turning out mining plant, the shareholders may rest satisfied that when the balance of the Iron is received from Home, the work will be finished well within the contraot time, 'lhe heavy plate rolls (capable of taking In plates Bft long by fin thlok), steam hammer, large punching and shearing machines, and other plant recently imported from Bngland render these works .capable of turning out large steam boilers and all mining requisites with facility. The boiler, steam pipes, and steam jacketed tar bath are all oovered with Wormuld patent nonoonduotlngcomposition, of which Mr Joseph Sparrow Is the sole agent.
