THE WOOL SALES. London, June 26.

Wool is brisker owing to purchases for the American market. June 27. At the wool sales to-day prices were unchanged. The market is dull, except for sorts suitable for American manufactures, whose demand is improving. June 29. At the wool sales 55,200 bales have been sold up to date, and 3200 held over (not 13,200 as has been stated). The total number of bales catalogued afc wool sales up to date is 58,400, of which 13,200 have been held over. At the wool sales prices are unchanged. The British and New Zealand Mortgage and Agency Company (Limited) have received the- following cablegram from Messrs Helmuth Rchwartze and Co., dated 25th met.: — " Opening rates are maintained, but prices are not better. As cocapared with closing rates of last series, prices for greasy are Id lower ; for good fleece and greasy, l£d lower ; and for the lower classes of scoured, 2d to 2%& lower " Mepsrs Dalgety and Company have received the following cablegram from their head office, dated London, June 26 : — " The wool sales continue firm : lately reported rates fully maintained. Nearly all the wool catalogued has been sold." Also the following, dated London, 28th inst. : — " Wool sales are dpll ; Continental buyers ore doing hardly anything." Prune growing has been started as a new industry in the North of Auckland district, and us samples grown and dried have been pronounced superior to both Californian and French prunes the industry should be successful.
