Notes from Roxburgh. (From a Correspondent.)
Junk 30.—Although the late frost caused a stoppage of sluioing, the manager of the Hercules Company No. 1 Informs me that on the whole ho was not surry, as 1» gave bun a good chance for making rnpalrs. The pipes are now in better order than ever they weie, and arrangements have been made for sluicing a fresh piece of ground. This piece has been fcfsted, aud promisps well. The visit I paid lately to the Amalgamated Company's works enabled me to iuspect p*rt ot the race, which is the ftuest I have ever seen. It. has been skilfully and solidly made, and will be able to carry 70 he ><l Bot water. Thin month will see the elavators in poßiiiou. if the contractor in Dunediu does his duty. , The Commissioners' Flat Company have fluished their bridge-206ft long-aoross the Olutha, and as they have arranged with Mr Sparrow to get two truck loads of pipes weekly tUey should soon make a show, if the stones do not prove too much of a nuisance.
