Mason has also accepted a challenge from Herr Lasker, Mr Freeborough has aptly said that " the success of gambit ploy Is principally due to two promlnon't characteristics of human nature. One is a tendency to grab, the other an indisposition to part." The late Mr Boden, says the Sheffield Independent, defined a gambit as " nn opening in which a player sacrifices a pieoe or a pawn to obtain a lost game."
