On Saturday evening a qoDcral ruoeting of footballers w»b held, at the invitation of the Grafton Club, to dJECunB the action of the Rugby Union in di«ciualifyin{!f one of the Grafton team for allpged rouuh play on tbe 14th inflt, There were about 50 present, being for the moßt part representatives ot thp Grafton, Selwyn, and Atblotic Clubs After considerable dii cnsnion in which it was pointed out that the referee had violated No. 6 of the regulations framed for his puidnnce in not either cautioning tho offender or warning him off the ground, it was resolved

that the action of the Grafton Glub in protesting against the action of the union, and asking them to reconsider their decision, be approved. Some strong opinions were expressed at the constitution of the Management Committee, which comprises four representatives of the Auokland Olub, two of Ponsonby, and one of Gordon, the Grafton and Selwyn and all the junior olubs being without representatives. It was resolved unanimously — "That in in the opinion of this meeting all oases of disputes between club? and complaints concerning' players and kindred matterß should be adjudicated upon by the delegates from the clubs, and not by the Management Committee, as at present constituted," Messrs F.irth, Haokett, Herrold, Murray, and Gardiner were appointed a committee to interview delegates in order that a requisition might be forwarded i to the union asking for a special general meeting of that body to consider the subject matter of the last resolution. Throughout th» meeting a general feeling of, sympathy with the "player suspended was manifested, though all the speakers were unanimous in their wishes to uphold the union in any welladvised action towards the suppression of rough play.
