The Duchess of Fife has been delivered of a still-born child. Miss Mary Anderson, the well-known actress, was married in London to-day to Mr Navaro, of New York. It is rumoured here that Mozambique troops have been sent to Angola to repel English aggression. A Portuguese journal predicts that a serious conflict will take place at Mozambique. The Bey. Dr Jeffries, chairman of the New South Wales Congregational Union, has been invited to accept the pastorate of the new college at Hampstead. Keports have reached Cairo that the Mahdi has released the Europeans imprisoned at Khartoum.
June 18. Dr Farrar, Archdeacon of Westminster, has been offered the deanery of Winchester. The Portuguese Government require the burning of the Portuguese flags in the Shire district, Africa, by the British Consul to be explained. The cholera in Spain is sporadic. Tallow : Best mutton, 26s to 26s 6d ; ditto beef, 25s to 25s 6d.
Buenos Aybes, June 18. The Government of the Argentine Republic has cancelled 30 millions of illegally issued dollar notes.
New Yobk, June 17. By an explosion in a mine at Dunbar, Pennsylvania, 50 miners have been entombed.
