ISLA BANK (SOUTHLAND).

JUNE 14. -The weather during the past week has been rather stormy and unsettled. Heavy rain fell on Tuesday, and snow is now lying on the ranges, while the rivers are high and the ground wet. The ground has been so softened that that useful implement the drain plough can now be set to work, which has been impossible until the last few days. The fnir weather experienced prior to the break up allowed of a great part of the grain being threshed and driven to the station under the most favourable circumstances. The returns are extremely satisfactory, and the only thing the farmers have to complain of is the low prices ruling. Stock of all kinds are thriving well, and sheep especially, in consequence of the prices they are realising, are receiving special attention, feeding with chaff being the order of the day on all hands. But little ploughing has been done so far, though a few have now made c. start.

W.D.A. and P. Association. -This body is apparently determined to make amends for its neglect of duty last year in not holding the usual annual show. A plain show is to be held at Biverton towards the end of this month, and a ploughing match will follow It at the end of July. Mr B. Hancock was appointed secretary at a meeting held on Thursday last. The Doming Blsotion. - There are many aspi rants willing to represent Wallace electoral district at the ensuing eleotlon, but none of those on the carpet yet expeot to secure a majority of the electors' votes. The electors have in the past been too much divided, and the result has been more a game of chance than to return the man who would best represent the majority of electors, or the colony.
