PENINSULA.
June 17.— The Martiui-Henry Rifle Club opened tin campaign on Saturday last, the 14th June, at their range tn Hooper's Inlet, holding on that day the first of a aeries of shootings whioh is to extend over a period of six months, for a number of prizes which have been given or are promised by Mr G. G. Russell (presidontof the club), Messrs Held, Maclean, and Co. Thomson, Brldger, and Co., Brown, Bwing. and Co. Vnrious other parties have promised prizes! which will be allocated for other matches after those mentioned above have been disposed of. The conditions of the competitions are that firing shall take place mpnthly ; three ranges each day, seven shots at each range ; the highest aggregate scores in six consecutive shootings to be the prizo-takers in each class. Two classes have been formed, so that new chums may have a show for a prize in the second class without competing against the crack shots. Tho following is the result of the first competition viz, of the three highest scorers in each class — Firat clbbs : D. Dickson, 84 j P. Ryan, 78 ; J Dickson, 77. Secoud clasß : W. Duthie, 67 ; A. Dickson, 68 ; M. Davis, 05. The ranges were 200, 500, and 600 yds.
