In the Supreme Court to-duy, a special jury awarded a s:iilor uauied Andreas Nystrom £750 damages against Cameron Brothers, sfcevedoresi for serious injuries caused by six coils of wire f liliug on him from the blings on board the ship Brahmin, at Lyttelton. The accidc-nt resulted from the breaking of the eyebolt to which the guy rope part of the. hoisting gear was fastened by Cameron's men. This bolt appeared .sound, but was rotten. The jury considered the stevedores showed negligence in fastening the guy to it. When the accident occurred Nystrom waa working, by orders of the mate, close to the fore hatch, whence the cargo was being raised The jury found that tbe officers of the ship had shown contributory negligence by placing him there, aud the question of whether the ship or stevedore is responsible will be argued in banco.
