A meeting of the Committee of the Danedin Chamber of Commerce was held on Ft day afternoon, and attended by Messrs T. R. Fisher (vice-president), A. 8. Paterson, W. B. Boiler, j. M'R&e Gallaway, J. H. Morrison, and A. Bartleman.

Wellington, Jnne 3, 1800. Sir,— With referenoe to your letter of 13th May, the reoeipt of which I hud the honour to acknowledge on 17th, urging a further rodnotlon in the rates for carriage of lime, I am directed by the Hallway Commiaiionera to inform you thnt, as the rates were reduced (from let October lnet) from 10 to 20 per cent, in proportion to the distance, the oommistlonori do not see their way to mftke further reductlono at present.— l have, &0., K. a.
