AUCKLAND FOOTBALL.
(From Our Own Oorrkspondent )
Auckland, May 13.
The match between Ponsonby and Grafton on Saturday last was the bent ona we have had this season, Play was very fast, and tha Ponsonby forwards showed fine form, whila th<nr backs were more combinsd. Caradus (who
secured three trieß), A. Braund, and Waterhouse played best for Ponsonby } while Cole, Mills, and Poland were conspicuous in the forwards. Madigan was the bast Grafton back, and Lecky, M'Kenzie, and Smith did good service as forwards. Ponsonby had all the best of ifc, and won by six points to three Madigan and Lecky each had their collar bona broken. Little interest was taken in the Auckland v. Gordon matoh, whioh was a very fairly contested one. Gordon had a considerable advantage, and pressed their opponents very hard several times. All their efforts to score were for a long time fruitless, and the second term had begun before Oervis, from a nice pass out by Poland, potted a flying goal. This was the only score during the game, and Gordon thus won by three points to nil.
