Lyra won a good race, all out, by a couple of lengths; Millstone, four lengths away, third; the rest nowhere. Time, lmin 51Jsec. Dividend, £5 7s. Mesarß M and C Hobbs' br c Eoad Metal, 3yrs, 8.12 (Jackson) 1 Mr J Curran'e eh m Secrecy, syrs, 6.12 (Monkley) 2 Mr J Kennedy's ck m Flash, syrs, 7.2 (Waters) 3 Mentor (6.7) also ran. Flash went off with the lead, followed by Road Metal. After getting round the first turn past the post Secrecy crept up to the leader, and on the off side of the course took the lead, Road Metal being hard held. A quarter of a mile from home Road Metal came through, and without an effort assumed command, winning by a length. Flash was about seven lengths away third ; and Mentor, who ran unkindly, was nowhere. Time, 2min 21sec. Dividend, £1 Bs. HANDICAP TIME THOT, Of 2'sovs ; second horse ssovs. Three miles. Mentor and Lyra raced in front till the turn into the straight was reached, when Prima Donna came up, and a slashing race took placp, Prima Donna getting in front in the last 50 yards, and winning by about half a length, Lyra~ beating Mentor by a neck. Silver Prince (scratch), Nigger (24sec), and Darkie (35sec) also started. Vivandiere kept her lead all the way, although at the finish Merry Girl and Kate had decreased their handicap. Thirty lengths from the post it seemed as if Carina would win, but Prima Donna shot up, and at the same moment Secrecy came to the front like an arrow, and won by a head, Prima Donna securing eecond place from Road Metal by a neck, and Carina close up. Mr Crockett's Black Jack, 7.10 (Cotton, jun) 1 Mr Mitchell's Barbwire, 8.10 ... (Blee) 2 Mr Richards' Streamlet, 9 2... (Belsham) 3 White's Annie Laurie (8 0), Hewitt's No Shenanikin (8 6), and Wilson's Nor'wester (7.7) also ran. Black Jack took the lead at the start and was never troubled, winning by about three lengths. Time, 2min 23sec. Dividend, £6 15s. Tho winner was bought in for £13. AUTUMN HANDICAP, Of 40aovi ; second horse sbovb from the stake. One mile and a-quarter. Mr Finn's Vaultress, b? Albany— Miranda, 8.7 (Blee) 1 Mr M'Kay'o Parvula, 6.12 ... (Cotton, jun) 2 Mr White's Jealousy, 7 4 ... (Campbell) 3 Smerdon's Modeste (8.10) and Crockett's Victory (7 4) also ran. Victory was lett at the post and ran far behind the others throughout the race. Modeste was first to show in front, but at the back of the course Vaultress had assumed first place with Jealousy second and Parvula third. Nearing tbe straight Parvula took second position, and challenged the leader a short distance from the post, but Vaultrefs was not to be caught and won a capital race by a bare half length. She was speedily overtaken, however, by the others and Token had a strong lead in the straight. Parvula went off with the lead, and although the finish was a close thing, the winner having only a length to spare, was never hardly pushed. Vaultress, the favourite, pulled up dead lame.
