THE PRIMACY DISPUTE. A SETTLEMENT IMMINENT. Christchuhoh, April 9.

Bishop Suter had a conference to-day with the members of the Standing Committee and other leading churchmen. The Dean presided, and read the following telegram from Bishop Hadfieldto Bishop Harpnr:— "As soon as you forward to me Bishop of Ne'.son's agreement with the terms of my telegram— viz., that he will convene the synod at an early date at Wellington for the election of a primate and confirmation of Archdeacon Julius' election — I will forward my resignation through you." Bishop Suter made a speech, concluding with the following statement, which he pleotd in writing :— " Having received from Bishop Harper intimation that the Biehop of Wellington io willing to resign hfs position, upon receipt of that resignation I shall comply with the applications recently made by tho Bishops of Christchurch,

Auckland; and Waiapu to convone a special meeting of the General Synod at an early date, probably April 24, and at the most central position— at Wellington— for the election of a primate and the confirmation of Archdeacon Julius' election to the See of Christchnrch."

The meeting passed a vote of thanks to Bishop Suter for coming to Christchurch, for the announcement he had just made, and of sympathy with him in the difficulties which arose over the primacy question.
