UNIVERSITY EXAMINATIONS.

On Monday a cablegram was received from England announcing to the authorities of the University of New Zealand the results of the November examinations. The senate declined to give any information as to the contents of the cablegram until advices are received by mail, It is understood, however, that the following Otago University students have passed : —

M.A. With Honours.— Mies M'Landress, Mies Duncan, W Rlddell, J M Beattie, J Moss, E G Whetter, W Gill, ABA Palmer.

First Section B.A.— Miss X Moss, Miss M S W White, A Crawford, W Burnside, J M'Phee, W Anderson, G King, T D Pea roe, O Salmond, D Greig, W R Malcolm, J Btuart.

Final Section B.A.— Mias Robi, J Watt, P G Morgan, J A Fullarton, ASM Poison.

In regard to those B.A. candidates who took history, the results cannot be known for some time. In the history paper a wrong period was set. The proper period, it seems, was from the beginning of Elizabeth's reign to the end of James the First's, and instead of this the period set was from the beginning of William Ill's reign to the accession of Victoria. Nine of the stu-tents hero did not do any history at all, but sent in a prot' st poiuting out that the wrong period was set. The others attempted the paper put before them. Another cause of delay has also -arisen. It is in connection with Hie scholarship paper in political science. Tho subject of tbe mist ako is in history. In this oa«e European history was set instead of English history. As a result of these mistakes some uf the B.A. candidates cannot know their fate until the senate has considered and decided what is to be done.
