a To prevent B to Kfc 5, shutting off escape of X K.
c Had Black played Xt tks Xt, he would have lost the Kb by R tks R ; Q tks X, Xt tk 8 Kt.
/ A counter attack on Black's Pawn's which is met by returning R to Xt 2.
Endgame between Messrs Hookham and Mouat. The following is the position of the game at the end of the second day's play.

The correct line of play for Black seems to be to push on the Queen's Pawn without stopping, and upon White's gaining the check of the Black Castle would win the "Queen.
