The Mount Ida Chronicle says: — The yarious rinks of the club have met on the icß on different occasions to compete for the trophy of this season—a handsome bronze medal presented by the Royal Caledonian Curling Club. Similar medals have been presented by that club to every other club in the world in celebration of the jubilee of its inauguration. This jubilee medal was coveted by all our rinks, consequently some grand exhibitions of curling have been witnessed in the matches played to secure it. On Saturday last the final rinks met on perfect ice at Hawkdun station, and the play resulted as below, Mr Pyle's rink being again successful. This rink are now the lucky holders of both this and last year's medals :— Final Match. No 6 Sink. No 2 Rink, W Clark Cowan W Burnett Turner J Ccchrane P Hanrahan, sen. Matheson (skip) ... 8 Pyle (skip) ... 21 Play for the cup is still going on. The lucky winner, to become the owner, must be the holder for two successive seasons. So far 19 pairs have competed, and only two pairs and a bye now remain, so that very possibly ■ tho winner will be known before tha end of the week. Nothing has yet been done towards fitting up the OtorohaDga oaves with the electric light. It is stated by those conversant with the caves that the installation of the light in a necessity, as the smoke from the torches at present used by Native guides will soon obliterate and deface the beauty of the stalactites which adorn tho roofs of the galleries and chamber.
