THE LITTLE BRIDESMAIDS.
Bertha Mayne was 10 years old when one of her urcles gave her a set of dolls dressed up like a wedding party. There was the bride, all in white satin and lace ; an 3 the bridegroom in full regiments, just like an officer. ' The bride had her long train and her Veil, and all the things that girls wear whetk they're married in style'; and th.c. bridegroom had a sword, and belt, and sash, and epaul«^ and a fine plume in his cocked hat— in fao£ he looked like the commander-in-chief of the* army I Then, besides these two there were eight bridesmaids. If you could; have seen how fine they were, each of them leaning on the arm of a soldier, I think you would have been as excited as Bertha was over her lovely present. She clapped her hands and laughed, and even cried, with joy. She made them promenade up and down the dining ".room table, till at last she grew tired of standing. Kathleen I. B. Henderson (aged 11 years). Gore, May 4. (To he continued?)
