Meurt Lawson and Ogilvie and , Forbes, as umpires and referee, gave universal satisfaction'. 11 ' Each team is looking forward to' the retwrn match with interest. " , -. M ' Prior^to Thursday's match the Excelsiors and Athletics bad a combined practice match. Much improvement was noticeable in all the players. The first fifteens of .each of .these clubs arrive in Dunedin on Thursday .night, and play the Alhambra, second and Z.iagari-Riohmond respectively on the following day. ' 'As all the players are new to Dunedin footballers there will, doubtless, be a large attendance.— Touchline. '
