NOTES BY JACK.

A match was played off on the Dunedin green between representatives of the Dunedin City Council and the Post Office last Saturday. I have had some difficulty in obtaining particulars of the event, because it proved so very disas-. trous to the members of the City Council. It was the quickest game of 21 points <on record, I understand that six ends only were played. Bowlers can imagine the manner in which the councillors must have played (!). The players were-r-Post Office : E. W. Butts, J. Fergusson, G. Bi Dall, J Cowie (skip), 21; City Councillors : James Barron, Mark Cohen, — Haynes, M. Sinclair (skip), 2;— majority2 ;— majority 19. The coun- _ cillorp led off with 2 at the firet end, the Post Officd making 1, 1, 6, 5, 8. I imagine it was Councillor Cohen who at the fifth end proposed resigning ; < but before he had time to cart y his proposition into, effect the game was lost. It is to be hoped that at the next election the > ratepayers will elect men to represent them on the* bowling green as well as in the Council Chambers. Auckland Bowling Club closed their season on Saturday afternoon, 4th May, with a match between the representative team who went to Taranaki jmd a team from the remaining members of the club. The representatives in a game of 21 Heads defeated their opponents by the decisive number of 39 points. At the close an adjournment was made to the pavilion, where a couple of hours|were spent in social harmony.- ■ Tb(e members of the Christchurch Bowling Club'closed their season on Saturday, 27th A.pril, J with a match, English v Scotch.
