Mr Wilson wasn't; longin sending fche 27 off to a lair start, from which Centaur in fche centre, Recall, Plutarch, Steel Arrow, and Dilisk got first away, the others straggling off as they raced for position. Steel Arrow shot out, and passing fche stand was in command, his own length iv fronfc of Plufcarch, who was closely followed by Dilisk and Esperanco. Rounding fche turn at the tan crossing Lord Prix wont to the head of affaire, aud, with Pearl Shell almost on terms, passed the mile post, Steel Arrow being within half a length of them, with Esperance ou his quarter. At fche seven furlongs Steel Arrow drew closer to the leader, and going along the far side got his head in fronfc of both Lord Prix and Pearl Shell, after them succeeding First Game, Dilisk, and Esperance in a bunch, and followed by Minstrel Boy, Centaur, Carlyon, and Plutarch, the last of a long tail still being Industry and Bona Visfca. As they began to rise up fche hill Minstrel Boy, under his light weight, sailed past the leaders on the outside, and settling down showed fche way along by the half mile post, the pace being a cracker, bub Steel Arrow was going well in second place next the rails. Here Dilisk joined fche latter, while Vespasia Immediately appeared in fourth position on the outside. Steel Arrow shot his bolt at the three furlongs, when Minstrel Boy was leading by a length, and Carlyon going into second place followed the hurdle racer Into fche straight. The nearest attendants were Steel Arrow, Dilisk, Vespasia and Plutarch, with Esperance near fche rails. When well in fche straight Carlyon drew up to Minstrel Boy, who immediately began to tire, and Steel Arrow dying out after a short effort Esperance fell into his place, waited on by Plutarch, Vespasia, and Fernandez. Oarlyon settled Minstrel Boy afc the distance, when Esperance threw oub a strong challenge, 'Jbnb the first-named -was quite equal to the occasion, and Hales keeping him moving ultimately won cleverly by a length. Eaperance beat Minstrel Boy by a length and a-half for second place; and Lamond was a good fourth. Time, 2min 24sec.
