Mr Charles F. Barker, the American champion, hopes to meet Wyllie, the " Herd Laddie," at the conclusion of his match with Smith, and if he succeeds In beating him his triumphs will be complete. The men met over the board in Boston in October, 1883, bnt neither Avon, as the score was one -win each and 48 games drawn. Wyllie is now in Australia but be is expected to arrive in London about the date of the Barker-Smith match.
