HAVELOCK.

December 3.— lhe excursion train to Dunedin on the 29th was very poorly patronised. The weather was bo disagreeable that very few except those on business intent cared to go out. Owing to the continued rain the orops are in a very backward state, and there is apparently no hope of the weather clearing, Every day and every night it rainß, with just an intermittent gleam of sunshine. The farmers have not benefited much by the ri6e in prices as the produce had almost all passed out of their hands, and there are rumours of sharp and shady transactions that reflect anything but creditably on certain of the city buyers, and tend to show that commercial morality is at a very low ebb in some quarters at least.
